Terms of Service
Last updated 11 August 2026
Plain version: use Tutorboard to teach, don't abuse it, keep your account details safe, and the lessons and files you create are yours. The full terms are below.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Solo Bay LTD, trading as Tutorboard ("Tutorboard", "we", "us") — a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 17415499, registered office Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom) — governing your use of the Tutorboard app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Tutorboard provides a shared whiteboard, video call, calculators, and lesson-recording tools for one-to-one tutoring. Students join a lesson from a link without creating an account. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
2. Your account
You sign in with Sign in with Apple or with your email address. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@tutorboard.tech if you believe your account has been misused. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country to hold a tutor account.
3. Subscriptions, trials, and billing
- Free trial. New tutors get a 14-day free trial. No charge is taken until the trial ends, and you can stop before then without being billed.
- Plans. After the trial, continued use requires a paid plan (for example Base or Premium, as described on our pricing page). Features differ by plan.
- Payment. The tutor app is distributed through the Apple App Store, so payment, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple under your Apple ID, and Apple's terms also apply. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel them in your Apple ID settings.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your Apple ID settings; cancellation stops the next renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple in line with the App Store's policies and your local consumer rights.
- Changes. We may change plan prices or features on reasonable notice; changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- break the law, or help anyone else do so;
- harass, abuse, or harm another person, including any student or tutor;
- share content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes someone's rights;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
- record a lesson without the consent of the student (and, where the student is a minor, their parent, guardian or school), or share a recording unlawfully;
- resell or redistribute the Service without our permission.
We may suspend or end access that breaches these rules.
5. Your content
Whatever you draw, write, upload, or record in a lesson is yours. We do not claim ownership of it. You grant us only the limited permission needed to relay lesson content live between tutor and student while a lesson is running, and — if you use Premium cloud backup — to store the whiteboards you save in your private account so we can sync them back to you. Recordings and files you save are stored on your own device; managing your content is your responsibility.
6. Availability and "as is"
We work to keep the Service reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that lessons will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a peer-to-peer call will always connect on every network.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we need to for legal or security reasons. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as content ownership and liability) will continue to apply.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will update this page and the "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law where you live provides otherwise.
